We’re finally in the thick of autumn. And much like the leaves, a few things are a-changing with Legacy Park. Read on to learn more.
Legacy Park Restructuring
Anyone who attended the most recent school board or borough council meetings will have heard the news, but for those who have not heard, we are adjusting our plans a bit.
After hearing back from the engineers and looking at the various quotes, we have made the decision to narrow our current scope of the project. While we had originally aimed to do a complete overhaul of the elementary school grounds, it unfortunately does not fit within what we can reasonably raise in time nor does it fit within our more important goal of giving the students a new playground by the start of school year in 2026.

We are now hoping to implement the renovation in phases. The first phase will include: New Castle structure, updated basketball court, tot lot, swings, and embankment slides.

After completion of step one, we will gift all plans, estimates, and any other work that has been done to the school district to begin fundraising for the next step/s.
Revised Timeline
We’ve updated our timeline to include more details on the project.

Fundraising Update
As for the financial side of things, we’re doing really well! We have been fundraising for less than a year and have raised over $850,000! That is truly an accomplishment that only a community as tight-knit as Jenkintown could ever hope to achieve.
With the new phasing system, we’re looking at step one of the project now running an estimated 1.5 million dollars. An amount that is fully within our reach by Spring 2026.
With all that being said, we are still fundraising! If you have a lead on corporate giving or know someone looking for an end of year giving opportunity, please don’t hesitate to put them in touch with us. We have a case for support outlining our updated plans available for potential donors. You can view and download it here.
And of course if you yourself would like to donate, you can always do so by clicking here.
Pennants

We have wonderful red and blue pennants for sale. These felt pennants are available in blue or red and have been cut, sewn, and screenprinted by some amazing community volunteers. Interested in buying one (or two, or three)? Stop by the wonderful Capricorn Books to support a local Jenkintown business and Legacy Park at the same time. All proceeds from the pennant sales will come back to Legacy Park.
Upcoming Partnerships
Mark your calendars for a few exciting events in partnership with locally Jenkintown-resident-owned business Jenkintown Baby Gear Group.
